There are many species being raised in Indiana and throughout the Midwest. As part of the aquaculture initiative, we have decided to focus on species that perform well in our climate. Please do not consider your options limited to these species. There is a wealth of information available on culturing a wide variety of species. The most critical part of species selection for any farmer is to be sure that it fits into their business and marketing plan.
